The River Adige, before reaching Verona and flowing into the plain, separates the Adige Valley into two distinct mountain ranges: The Monte Baldo Range to the west and the wide highlands of Lessinia to the east.
In winter the mountain slopes of Verona, with its modern facilities, become a skier's paradise for both the old and the young. In spring the mountains turn into a natural botanic garden and become the "Hortus europae" (as botanist call it) comprising an enourmous variety of plant species, each one peculiar to the various "levels", of the mountain. Lessinia also offers a wide range of excursions to enable you to explore the hidden archaeological and geological past of this fascinating area.In summer, after a hectic day of sight-seeing in Verona or on the Lake, the mountains, with their churches and shrines poised on rocky summits, and its traditional "malghe" (cow sheds) become a heaven of peace and quiet and also a mean of getting to know the age-old culinary tradition of the mountain people.
