Loggia del Consiglio

This splendid Renaissance palace, with its magnificent porch, is neo-classical in design and was built in the second half of the 15th century.

It was supposed to be the meeting-place of the town council, and is now the seat of the Provincial Administration.

The upper section bears splendid frescos, the double-arched windows feature in-laid work of coloured marble, armonial bearings and sculptures.

It is considered one of the most beautiful of Northern Italy’s Renaissance Palaces.

As with Pallazzo Maffei in Piazza Erbe, the building is crowned by the statues of Vitruvius, Catallus, Pliny the elder, Marcus and Cornelius Nepos, in short the representatives of Latin culture.

You can see it only from outside. It’s open to the public only in rare occasions.

Address: Piazza dei Signori, 37121 Verona.
