Romeo's House

The so-called “ Romeo’s House” is an authentic medieval structure with crenellated walls and a gothic portal which belonged to the Cagnolo – Nogarola family ( part of the Della Scala’s entourage).

The house cannot be visited, but a nearly restaurant encloses some of the house’s rooms, said to have been occupied by the Montecchi.

On the house’s façade an inscription reads:

“ Oh Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?”
“Tut! I have lost myself; I am not here.”

Warning! The house is a private one, so it’s not open to the public.

Address: Via Arche Scaligere, 2 - 37121 Verona.
