Il Papà del Gnoco

The Carnaval is very popular in Verona: indeed, it's considered one of the oldest in Europe.

The "Papà del Gnoco" (Dad of Gnocco, the traditional first course) is a very particular symbol: a man, normaly with a very long white beard. You can recognize him for the red cloak and sceptre like a big fork.

Every year people in Verona elect a different one, and see him march in the street of the centre during the Carnaval period.
