The name of the village comes from the willow (in italian "salice"), very popular in this area.

Earthen money of Roman era were discovered in this area, and we can find evidence of them also in many historical documents. The Scaligeri Castle, of the XIII century, became the point of meeting but also of conflict for the lordships of the South of Verona.
